About Ning

I actually enjoy using Ning...it's a place for people to gather together solely based upon their common interests or ideas without outrageous bias from others. I don't really see it being used for business purposes but I suppose a business could get a Ning account and advertise and post links to their business site and keep customers updated. I like it better than Myspace because it is just like it without the annoyance of the advertisements and applications and overall commercialism involved.

Netiquette...what really grinds my gears! lol Family Guy...

I can't stand typos in emails....I mean seriously...people really can't spell nowadays? It's easy enough to just hit SPELLCHECK before sending an email, but people can't even do that! And really, people who know who to send an email (or should lol) should be able to use "there", "they're", "their" properly....but I mean we're all human...

RUNESCAPE!!!!

So I started a RUNESCAPE account for my FIT 1012 class...my little brother back home used to play and occasionally I'd watch, but I never understood his fascination with it....I still can't say that I do now, even though I've started playing myself...I mean the game is alright, but the graphics aren't all that great, the game itself runs slow and it just seems like the game is overrated...

Concerning Digital Citizenship, Etiquette is definitely key in the world of Runescape....being able to pretty much freely roam the world of Runescape leveling up an making your avatar better requires etiquette. Being able to say what you want, where and when you want gives the player freedoms...but it is up to the gamer to be courteous to the other players no matter the circumstances...

Each of these applies to those of us who access the internet. Everytime we access the "world wide web", we are held to each of these in some respect....it is our decision, no matter the consequences to what extent we follow them.

Personally, after learning about these in class, I reconsider just how I use the internet now. I never thought about just how much of a negative effect the "convenience" of nearly everything being accessible with a literal push of a button could have on the world as we know it. I believe the concepts behind digital citizenship should be followed and implemented as law...the only issue that comes into question here is probably the most important of all...the question of ETHICS...
